At the closing meeting of BOMA International’s Winter Business Meeting & National Issues Conference in Washington, D.C., BOMA Ohio was selected as the winner of the GOVIE (Government Affairs Awards of Recognition) in the category of Outstanding Single Government Affairs Issue.

The issue submitted for consideration was the battle to save Ohio’s Historic Preservation Tax Credit.

Historic Preservation Tax Credit Narrowly Avoids Elimination

There were three other submissions up for consideration: BOMA Georgia successfully reduced the burden property owners and managers were facing for proposed energy efficiency mandates, BOMA Greater Los Angeles helped formulate a reasonable seismic retrofit ordinance, and BOMA Phoenix significantly raised their advocacy profile in the media and with their local & state legislators.

BOMA Ohio also won a GOVIE in 2014 for successfully defeating a massive expansion of the state sales tax.
