The Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI), is an independent educational institute created to fulfill the need for a higher level of training and expertise in the property and facility management profession.

Most BOMI International courses have been evaluated and recommended for college credit by the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service. Many courses have also been approved toward maintaining your LEED, CFM, CPM, CCIM, and many other industry credentials.

Real Property Administrator (RPA) – For those who manage a single building or a portfolio of real estate assets with emphasis on building systems, risk management, brokerage, and enhancing overall financial performance of the asset.

Facilities Management Administrator (FMA) – For those who manage a facility from the user’s prospective, either as a tenant or an owner of the facility, where you are responsible for the care, comfort, and productivity of your employees by maintaining building systems, technology, furniture systems, and daily maintenance.

Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA) – For those who manage the people who run building systems. SMAs ensure that the building systems run efficiently, both from an energy use and tenant comfort standpoint, as well maintain all aspects of a building or facility, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and hardware.

Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT) – Ideal for those who operate and maintain major building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.

Certificates are for those who are new to the property and facility management industry or for those looking to enhance their knowledge. You can gain professional recognition and establish a foundation for a future BOMI International designation program. To earn a certificate, students must complete three to four courses and pass exams to show their understanding of program content.

Property Administrator Certificate (PAC) – For those who manage the overall operations of a building or a portfolio of buildings.

Property Management Financial Proficiency Certificate (PMFP) – For individuals responsible for analyzing, managing, and investing in real estate assets.

Facilities Management Certificate (FMC) – For those who manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of facilities.

Building Systems Maintenance Certificate (SMC) – Individuals who operate and maintain multiple building systems.
