Brian M. Harnetiaux Elected Chair and Chief Elected Officer

(WASHINGTON, D.C. – June 26, 2016) The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International elected its 2016-2017 officers at the 2016 BOMA International Conference & Expo in Washington, D.C.

The Board of Governors of BOMA International elected:

  • Brian M. Harnetiaux, Senior Vice President, Asset Management, McCarthy Cook, Costa Mesa, California, as Chair and Chief Elected Officer for 2016-2017;
  • Robert M. Brierley, BOMA Fellow, Senior Vice President, Real Estate Management Services, Colliers International, Boston, as Chair-Elect;
  • Brian D. Cappelli, RPA, Vice President, Forest City Realty Trust, Cleveland, as Vice Chair;
  • And continuing his second two-year term (2015-2017) as Secretary/Treasurer, Daniel W. Chancey, RPA, Senior Vice President of Asset Management, Commercial Advisors Asset Services, LLC, Memphis, Tennessee.
As senior vice president of Asset Management for McCarthy Cook, Brian Harnetiaux leads the asset, property management and leasing effort for a 4.5 million-square-foot portfolio of Class A office assets throughout Northern and Southern California. Prior to assuming his current position, Harnetiaux was vice president at Transwestern, responsible for all aspects of leasing and management at MetroCenter in Orange County. He has served as president of both BOMA/Orange County and BOMA California. In 2011, Harnetiaux was named BOMA/Orange County’s Principal Member of the Year. He has previously served on the BOMA International Executive Committee and as chair of BOMA International's Industry Defense Fund Oversight Committee.

Rob Brierley has nearly 30 years of property, asset, project management and business development experience, and he currently serves as senior vice president of Real Estate Management Services at Colliers International. As a two-term past president of BOMA/Boston, Brierley also serves as a member of BOMA/Boston’s Board of Directors. He also is a past chairman of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB). At BOMA International, he has served on several BOMA International committees, including the Preparedness Committee, the Awards Committee and the State Government Affairs Committee, and he recently completed his term as chair of the BOMA 360 Performance Program® Council. In 2010, Brierley was elected to BOMA International’s Executive Committee, where he served two consecutive two-year terms. In 2012, he was named a BOMA Fellow in the inaugural class of the BOMA Fellows program.

Brian Cappelli has more than 20 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. In his current role as vice president of Operations with Forest City Commercial Group, he directs the property and asset management functions for a portfolio of office, retail and mixed-use properties. He served two terms as president of BOMA/Greater Cleveland and for four years on BOMA Ohio’s board of governors. He also has served on numerous BOMA International committees, including the Executive Committee, Asset Management Council, Energy & Environment Committee.

This is the final year of Dan Chancey’s second two-year term as BOMA International secretary/treasurer. Prior to being elected to his first two-year term as BOMA International Secretary/Treasurer in 2013, Dan Chancey served two terms on BOMA International’s Executive Committee. He also served as chair of the BOMA 360 Performance Program® Council and worked on the Green Task Force and Audit and Finance Committees. He also served three terms as president of BOMA/Memphis. In recognition of his valuable contributions to BOMA International, Chancey received the Chair's Award in 2012. Chancey is senior vice president of Asset Management with Commercial Advisors Asset Services, LLC, in Memphis, Tennessee.
